Mahi Mahi

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Few fish announce themselves with color quite like the Mahi-Mahi.

In this piece, I wanted to capture the moment when that brilliant color and incredible speed come together. The mahi turns toward a small school of baitfish, its body alive with yellow, green and blue as the pursuit begins.

What fascinates me is how quickly everything can change beneath the surface. One moment appears calm, and the next becomes a contest of speed, instinct and survival.

The mahi mahi seems almost impossibly beautiful for a predator. Perhaps that contradiction is what makes it so extraordinary."
