"There is a quiet intelligence, love and protection beneath the surface that we rarely have the opportunity to witness.

In Watchful Eye, a mother humpback whale moves through the deep with her calf close beside her. Her enormous presence is powerful, yet her attention remains on the smaller life traveling with her. 

The distant, yet approaching Great White Shark has the mother’s attention. We are left to wonder about the outcome, yet the love and protection of the mother is palpable.

I wanted the darkness and scale of the water to make the calf feel vulnerable, while the mother does what all mothers do…protect.
